About this fish
Officially the bigfin reef squid. Its fins run the full length of its body, and it's the top target of eging, fishing with shrimp-shaped lures called egi.
Catching one for real
Cast a shrimp-shaped egi lure, let it sink to the bottom, then snap the rod to make it dart up (eging). Autumn at the breakwater is prime time.
